Carla Bertolin-Siegmund, RP
Individual, Couples and Family Therapy & Counselling
Very simply, the purpose of psychotherapy is to remove the blocks to truth. Our own truths about ourselves, our world, our relationships. My personal mission is to do my best in assisting you to reach a new and profound level of liberation on all levels: Psychological, Emotional and Spiritual.
Carla is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. She practices a form of Integrative or Holistic therapy, drawing on a wide range of therapeutic methods based on humanistic insights to help individuals recognize their strengths, creativity, choice and growth. It is an approach that tries to do justice to the whole person including mind, body and spirit.
What I Offer
I offer a safe and supportive space where you can speak fully and honestly trusting I will maintain confidentiality. I’ll reflect back to you what I hear and see, to make sure I get it right. I will ask questions to help clarify. At times I will offer the challenge of a new or different perspective for your consideration. This may come as a question or an exercise designed to bring a new awareness. I bring compassion, support and a deep understanding to this process. I recognize the courage it takes to do inner discovery work.
Specializing in Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders and Perinatal Loss
How can Therapy Help?
The process of therapy helps you put words to and name your internal experiences, thoughts and feelings. It makes all that is going on internally inside of us, external by naming it so we can see it better. I will help you with this process of taking what's internal and making it external so you can see it clearer. When you can see it clearly you can better understand yourself, your experiences, emotions and that which has been bothering you. You are then able to make the choices necessary to move forward.
My ultimate goal is to support people in discovering a new level of inner peace that is always available regardless of external circumstances; to come into a new and meaningful relationship with themselves and therefore with the world around them.
Spiritual Psychotherapy is an approach to therapy which tries to do justice to the whole person including mind, body and spirit. It is non-dogmatic and does not follow any religious concepts but does acknowledge the multi-dimensional aspects of our humanity, taking a holistic approach to mental and emotional wellbeing. When we acknowledge the needs of our soul as well as our human experience the possibility for profound inner healing becomes available to us. It involves encouraging the individual to discover the deep core of who they really are.

Motherhood is Hard.
Motherhood is a major transition. It means the change of many things as we once new them. Although it can be a joyful and loving time, for many it can be filled with stress and anxiety. The distress a new mother experiences can be normal, talking to someone can help you make sense of your new thoughts, feelings and worries during this transition period in you and your family's lives.
For some the transition to motherhood is not quite as simple. 1 in 5 (15-20%) women will develop a more serious mental health concern called a PMAD (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder)
You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.
